Pedernales ha sido siempre uno de los tesoros mejor conservados de República Dominicana. Sus playas vírgenes, la Sierra de Bahoruco, el Parque Nacional Jaragua y su identidad cultural única convirtieron a la provincia en una de las mayores oportunidades para el desarrollo sostenible del país.
2020
Nace una visión de transformación
El Gobierno dominicano crea el Fideicomiso Pro-Pedernales bajo el Decreto No. 724-20, para impulsar el desarrollo turístico de la región sur y convertir a Pedernales en un nuevo destino turístico sostenible de clase mundial.
2021
The future is designed
The Master Plan of Cabo Rojo is developed and presented, establishing the roadmap for the orderly development of the destination, including hotels, infrastructure, basic services, airport, and tourist port.
2022 – 2025

Investments begin, marking the start of a new era for Pedernales:

Road infrastructure development.

Construction of the Cabo Rojo Port.

Start of the first hotel projects.
For the first time, the dream of turning Pedernales into a reference tourist destination begins to take shape.
2025
Consolidation and attraction of investment
Cabo Rojo enters a new stage of maturity:

The strategic partner led by Grupo Puntacana is awarded.

The modern Wastewater Treatment Plant is inaugurated.

Hotel and infrastructure expansion continues.

The destination receives thousands of visitors through Port Cabo Rojo.

Cabo Rojo is presented internationally as a model of sustainable tourism development.
2026
A new era is born: CTCR
The destination management evolves with the creation and implementation of the Cabo Rojo Tourism Corporation (CTCR), which assumes the administration and development of the destination, consolidating a corporate structure focused on sustainability, innovation, and long-term growth.
